What the tale is about
In Medina, a diligent rooster crows before sunrise to announce a new day. When he sees people wake, perform ablution, and gather at the mosque after hearing Bilal al-Habashi’s beautiful morning adhan, he begins comparing himself and feeling jealous. Even his most emotional crowing does not bring people together, so he visits the mosque of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to understand why. There he learns that the adhan calls people to prayer. The Prophet explains that the rooster also has an important duty: waking people for prayer each morning. Reassured, the rooster takes pride in serving faithfully.
