What the tale is about
A man in Baghdad inherits great wealth, but because he never works for it, he spends everything and loses his home. Weeping and asking Allah for mercy, he falls asleep and dreams that the treasure he seeks is hidden in Egypt. He travels there, runs out of money, and plans to beg at night, when a guard mistakes him for a thief. After hearing the man’s truthful story, the guard describes a treasure dream pointing to a house in Baghdad. The man recognizes his own home, returns, finds the treasure, and thanks Allah, learning to value blessings already close at hand.
