What the tale is about
On a winter evening, a family hears the adhan and begins wondering about Bilal al-Habashi. After dinner, the children settle on their cushions while their grandmother explains how the growing Muslim community in Madinah needed a way to gather for prayer. Words taught in Abdullah ibn Zayd’s dream became the call to prayer, and Bilal, known for his beautiful voice, was chosen as the first muezzin. Though pressured and tortured to abandon his faith, he remained patient and steadfast until Abu Bakr helped set him free. The family decides to remember Bilal whenever the adhan is heard, cherishing faith, humility, and courage.
